The north flank of Statfjord was brought into production on 1 August 1999, after operator Statoil had chartered the Transocean Leader rig to drill and complete the required subsea wells.

This formation is not actually a satellite field, but part of the Statfjord reservoir. However, the reserves lie in a separate structure which could best be reached from a seabed template. This is tied back to Statfjord C.
