These include Snorre, Gullfaks, Tordis, Vigdis, Kvitebjørn and Visund as well as Statfjord. Also covering nearby British installations, the machine replaced an older Bell helicopter. It was equipped with an infra-red camera which allowed it to operate at night, as well as deicing surfaces to reduce the challenge of cold weather.

The SAR helicopters stationed on Statfjord B have usually been used as ambulances for flying people to hospital, and to assist the joint rescue coordination centre (JRCC) in such jobs as searching for and assisting fishing vessels.
