Decision on Statfjord B

The Statfjord Unit Operating Committee (SUOC) – the highest authority for the unitised field – unanimously approved plans for building the Statfjord B platform at its meeting of 31 August 1976.

An order was to be placed for a four-shaft Condeep gravity base structure (GBS) with a topside providing the capacity to produce 300 000 barrels per day.

A majority on the SUOC also voted to award the contract for technical design and project management to Norwegian Petroleum Contractors (NPC) in a joint venture with Brown & Root.
