Harald R Inman took over as chief executive for Mobil Exploration Norway Inc in December 1979, in place of E J Medley. Previously senior operations adviser in Mobil’s exploration and production division in New York, Inman remained in the Norway job until his retirement in 1982.

President Carter visits Statfjord A

It is not every day that Norway gets a visit from an American president, but 4 May 1982 was one such occasion. That was when Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalyn took a trip out to Statfjord A, which was operated at the time by Mobil Exploration Norway Inc (Meni).

SAR helicopter in place

A search and rescue (SAR) helicopter has been stationed permanently on Statfjord B since 1983 as part of the emergency response organisation.
